Here at Otley Under Fives, we are very lucky to have a great working relationship with Otley primary School. Although we are situated on the school’s grounds, we are a separate business in our own purpose built nursery. However, that doesn’t stop us having lots of great shared events throughout the year!
Below are just some of the amazing opportunities the children have a chance to be a part of throughout their time with us as a nursery.
- Teddy bears picnic. Our children get to have a giant teddy bears picnic with the reception class at Otley Primary school. This happens in the summer term, on the school’s playing field.
- Christmas celebrations. At the Otley Village fete Otley Primary and Otley Under Fives work with the community giving a venue for stalls and Santas Grotto!
- Assemblies. Once your child enters into the year leading up to starting school, we take them to join the school assembly once a week. This is a great opportunity for them to experience some practice ready for school.
We are able to offer an amazing transition into Otley Primary school. When your child is in their final year with us before school, we have trial periods. We take a small group of children into the school with our staff, and join in with the reception’s class lessons. This is a great opportunity for the children to see their new school, teachers and environment before they start in September. This helps the children greatly as the transition period can be very daunting and we would like to make this process as smooth as possible for all involved.
We are also very lucky to be able to use the school’s playing field, outdoor classroom and brand new cycle track with our nursery children.
