Our Ethos at Otley Under Fives is:

To nurture the children’s emotional development throughout their time here, gaining the skills needed for their future.

It is very important to all the staff here that the children feel safe and happy, giving them the confidence to become independent in their leaning as much as possible, knowing the support is there when needed.

Our small team allows great communication, allowing all staff to know all the children and their needs.

Our curriculum is designed with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and Birth to 5 Matters, making sure we cover the 7 areas of development and using the Characteristic of effect Learning to achieve the age-appropriate developments.

We use in the moment planning to achieve these goals, using the children’s own personal interests to develop their skills and gain the Cultural Capital for their futures into adulthood.

We use an app called Tapestry to record wow moments, observations and care diary updates. This is set up by us when your child starts and a new account created just for the child’s parent/guardian to access. We encourage parents and guardians to upload their own adventures from home as well, helping us get a better picture of the children’s personality, achievements and developmental stages.
